Day Twenty-Four

05/06/25 - Day Twenty Four

Fairly relaxed day today mileage wise, 52 at the end of play. A wet start, and an even wetter end to the day. Rode through the storm damage throughout the day, most notably along the Donau, where I assume the river acts as a wind tunnel. Makes me realise I must have gotten quite lucky! I saw many big tress downed or snapped in half, it was quite post apocalyptic, and sobering.

I then went to a climbing gym in Ingolstadt, before getting soaked in a downpour while cycling the last 6 miles to my host for the night. I stayed at Dorothee and Dieters, and there was another cycle tourist there too! Florian or 'Flo', was an osteopath student at Munchen. He was riding from there to Hamburg, travelling fast and light.

I can’t say I was a fan of this German, he laughed at Barbara and called her a “shitbox”, and was arrogant to boot. He did voice message his friends telling them he had met a crazy man going to India, which I obviously loved. In his defence he could be funny, but wasn’t my cup of tea let’s say. In stereotypical German fashion (maybe?), he told me wild camping was illegal when I said I had mainly been doing just that. I enjoyed a good old chin wag with Dorothee when I first arrived - unfortunately she had to leave shortly after, and it wasn’t until later that Dieter arrived home from München himself. They put a great amount of trust in Flo and I: they left their house open for us to shower etc, with no one home! I went to bed exhausted, cumulative fatigue building, and a sweaty climb too.

A piew with a voo!!!

Some kind of abomination

These were only the small ones too, but for some reason I mustn’t have thought the big ones were worthy of a picture!
