Day Twenty

01/06/25 - Day Twenty

Today is a self care kinda day. Some bikers passing on the road nearby made me hurry along my packing. Only 2.5 miles down the road I came across a nice looking swimming area with cafe, so decided it was as good a place as any to get some washing and admin done. I soon realised I hadn’t got my spare boxers and socks. I trudged back to find them still at camp.

Stopped in the quaint town of Stein am Rhein and enjoyed the art on the walls of the shops and buildings in the old square. I caught a flat as I carried on and spent too long changing it. A patch failed to work, so I resorted to changing the entire tube. After this is was more than ready to take the afternoon off, and after raging at having to pay to access this swimming area, I finally sat down to rest.

I whiled away the afternoon by reading, snoozing and swimming. I then went on to find a camp in some woods, but as I was looking I heard the rumble of thunder overhead. Not backing the woods in a storm, I rushed out to open ground, what appeared to be a logging yard. It’d do. I just about got my tent up in time before it started pouring and the wind picked up. The pitch was shameful, but it seemed to be holding. The storm passed as quickly as it had started, so I took the opportunity to cook, and a man cycled past with his dogs.
