Day Thirty-Four

15/06/25 - Day Thirty-Four

I had the luxury of another lie in to make the most of a comfy bed. I then ate 2 breakfasts to fuel up and said goodbye to Lewis and Corolla, thanking them for their hospitality. I figured this was probably the last place with an English language book shop so bought a copy of Huckleberry Finn and set off on my way.

I felt knackered, and concluded it must have been the heat. I had to get used to cycling again - it’s funny how quickly you lose the rhythm. I had a swim after lunch to refresh myself and pressed on to Bratislava, riding through the delicious evening warmth. I savoured the feeling of joy entering a new country and capital, foreign lands! There was still no reply from my host and so I pressed on, finding a nice camp right on river. I washed myself in the river to get rid of the layer of sweat and grime. It’s always nice going to bed fresh and non-sticky. I must have been experiencing some sort of hangover from the good company of Vienna, as I went to bed feeling flat and dejected, doubting whether I could do this. Tomorrow is a new day, so I’d see how I felt in the morning!
